Design Happiness

First of all, what is happiness?
Happiness is ephemeral
• Happiness is dynamic and not a static condition
• Happiness develops in the interrelation between tension and relief
• The way towards the goal is happiness
Happiness is coincidental
• Happiness is to recover something you though you lost
• Surprise effect and coincidence is a source of happiness
• Happiness is a positive loss of control. Stress a the negative loss of control.
Happiness is individual
• Happiness is small, big, straight, bended, coloured, loud, silent
• The source of happiness is to know your values
• Happiness is hard to messure
• Everyone has to find his personal happiness
Happiness is contextual
• Something that makes you happy in one situation might not make you happy in another.
• Happiness is the right in the right point of time
Happyness is counterintuitive
• People don’t know what makes them happy
• It’s easier to tell what makes you unhappy
Happiness is a currency
• Happiness is a value but no currency
• Happiness develops in the interrelation of different aktors: People experiencing
happiness, people enable happiness, people consuming happiness.
• Giving makes happier than buying.
But Happiness can be learned!
• Happiness is a state of mind.
... and happiness can be influenced:
• Happiness can be amplified and equalized with the help of different, individual
instruments
• Happiness lies in your personal responsibility
So, how can we influence happiness?
Learning makes happy!
• The exchange of knowledge and the production of insight is creates happiness.
„Brain ist the new black“
Sharing makes happy!
• Joy is social and developes in the interraction of originator and recipient
Freude ist sozial und entsteht in Wechselbeziehung zwischen Erzeuger und Empfänger
• Real happiness is shared happiness
“A kids smile makes me happy.”
Meaning makes happy!
“When the reason why I do someting, what I do and how I do it comes together it causes satisfaction.”
Creating makes happy!
• Collaborating in a short-term goal makes us happy
• Solving challenges causes happiness
Physical experiences make happy!
• Happiness is connected to senses
Surprises makes happy!
• Unexpected positive experience can cause happiness!
Humor makes happy!
• Humor helps people to grow beyond their abilities
Diversity makes happy!
• A certain freedom of choice can influence happiness.
